Reflection #1 During the process of exploring my topic of Veteran medical rights a lot of new things were discovered. My first thought of the conflict of veteran medical rights was that the veterans were not receiving help at all but that is not completely true. The VA ( Veterans affairs medical center) has its own rule that the veterans and the VA program have to follow. For example if veterans receive help while in service they will not receive as much help they need because they were already provided with help. I am not the only one who took this as a shocker my group also experience the same reaction we could not believe that there were rules that did not provide enough help for the veterans. The collaboration between my group has been great we all have the same reaction when we find out new things about our topic
Reflection #2 Since the last time nothing has changed and that is a good thing because it lets us know we are on the right track. For our student led research my group and I decided to do an interview of a veteran who has worked he help by the VA. To complete our slr we need to make sure we have the correct questions that goes with our dq and is not one sided. The collaboration with has been alright there are moment when we get on each other’s nerves but we work it out.
Reflection #3 Since the last time we researched we found lots of rules that are affecting the veterans and there is in fact some veterans who have had a good experience with the va. For our bored we wanted to represent both side which is the veterans so for that we have the US flag with silhouette of a soldier saluting and to represent the other side which is the va medical center we drew a medical symbol with a bear beat and for extra details we have little figures with the camouflage of each military branch( 2 of from each branch so a total of 10) and in the middle the va logo. The last thing to get our board approved Is to get out isd approved so it can be printed and glued to the bored.
Reflection #4 To what extent do the rules surrounding va medical centers create barriers to veterans’ medical care? The main revisions we made to our project was the isd because we were almost there but it still did not meet the standards there were a few mistakes but they got fixed. Revisions is very important because it helps us see what we can do better to make our work above and beyond our standards. While working on the project there were something’s I would have done differently for example manage my time Better one other thing was very important getting more stamps I would asks for help and questions but I would totally forget to ask to get a signature for mentorship. For first timers doing symposium I would tell them have fun it is a lot of work but it is worth it there were moments where I wanted to give up but this project taught me don’t give up because you will get nothing good out of it. The main thing I would tell them is all the fun I had working with the my group we would get on each other’s nerves but at the end we would end up laughing about. This years symposium was a very interesting not only was it fun but I learned a lot of important things.
